Standish, ME - Sophomore Elbie Murphy
(Loudonville, NY) led all scorers with a career-high 26 points and
added 7 steals as a packed Alfond Center crowd watched the Monks
earn a convincing 64-41 win over Maine-Farmington.
The teams traded baskets over the first few minutes of play, but
after taking an 8-6 lead at 15:10, the Monks never trailed again in
the contest. Murphy recorded 15 first- half points as St. Joe's
built a 34-17 half-time lead.
The St. Joe's defense forced 27 turnovers and held UMF to 32%
shooting from the floor. Grad captain Chad
Pulkkinen (Windham, ME) scored 11 points and senior
Marcus Alexander (Niceville, FL) finished with 8
points.
Junior Isaac Hutchinson (Oakland, ME) led Farmington with 20
points and junior Matt St. John (Wayne, ME) chipped in with 7
points.
The Monks (2-1) travel to Husson College on Tuesday, November
28th for a 7 p.m. game.
