WATERVILLE, Maine ---- Luke Enman (Milan, N.H.)
had three hits, including a home run, and Steven
Stout (Gloucester, Mass.) pitched into the eighth inning
to lead Saint Joseph's College to a 6-3 non-conference victory over
Colby College in baseball Tuesday at Coombs Field.
Enman had a two-run homer in the ninth inning that helped Saint
Joseph's take
the 6-3 lead. Meanwhile, Stout pitched seven and two-thirds innings
to earn his first victory of the year. Jack Hughes
(Dudley, Mass.) got the final out of the eighth and pitched the
ninth for his second save.
Colby (6-8) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single
by Roddy Ames (Cotuit, Mass.) that brought in Nick Spillane
(Darien, Conn.). St. Joe's (17-6) got a lone run in the third
inning to tie the game and then went ahead for good with three runs
in the fifth. Ben Muniz (Readfield, Maine) had a
two-run single and Enman had an RBI single in the inning.
Enman's two-run homer in the ninth proved to be valuable runs
after the Mules had scored two runs of their own in the bottom of
the eighth inning. Andy Carr (Conway, N.H.) had an RBI double and
Ames had another RBI single. Muniz and Keil Martin
(Saco, Maine) both had two hits for the Monks. Craig Cooper
(Trumbull, Conn.) finished with two hits and a run scored for
Colby.
The Monks Journey to Maine-Farmington on Friday, April 14, for a
Conference doubleheader starting at 12 noon.
