STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's College improved to
22-6 with 13-2 and 2-0 wins over Thomas College (11-16) tonight.
The Monks took advantage of back to back 5-run
innings in the fourth and fifth to seal the game one victory.
Sophomore Andrew Wood (South Portland, ME), junior
Keil Martin (Saco, ME) and sophomore Luke
Enman (Milan, NH) all homered in the fifth inning to put
the game out of reach for the Terriers.
Sophomore Steven Stout
(Gloucester, MA) (2-1) recorded the win, pitching 5 innings for St.
Joe's and Brandon Leon took the loss for Thomas.
In game two, sophomore Miles
Johnson (Berwick, ME) (2-0) threw a complete game
shut-out, allowing just two hits and striking out 5.
The Monks took a 1-0 lead in the first as Enman hit
a sacrifice fly to score freshman Wade Oliver
(Owls Head, ME). Junior Mark Clapp (Blue Hill, ME)
hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth to score freshman Stephan
Gorsun (South Berwick, ME).
Aaron Bouyea recorded the loss for the Terriers.
St. Joe's travels to Southern Maine for a 3:00 p.m.
game on Friday, April 21, and hosts both Elms and Becker Colleges
this Sat.-Sun. for North Atlantic Conference doubleheaders.
