NASHUA, N.H. – Saint Joseph's College (8-6-0, 7-2-0 GNAC) defeated Rivier University (2-10-1, 0-8-1 GNAC), 2-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer game on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Monks applied all the offensive pressure in the early going and notched six shots in the first 13 minutes. The efforts paid off on their seventh shot, as a long free kick from senior keeper Adia Grogan (Kennebunk, Maine) landed in the box and on the foot of freshman Alicen Burnham (Monmouth, Maine), who directed an odd-angle shot past Rivier keeper Maya Puma.

The 1-0 edge held until the 88th minute, when sophomore defender Darcy Wright (Salem, N.H.) potted her first collegiate goal.

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held the lead in shots (25-2), shots on goal (15-1), and corner kicks (4-0) in the victory.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the result, Saint Joseph's improves to 12-2-0 all-time versus and has now defeated the Raiders in nine-consecutive meetings dating back to the 2013 season.
