STANDISH, Maine – Emmanuel College (10-1-0, 8-0-0 GNAC) defeated Saint Joseph's College (3-6-2, 3-4-2 GNAC), 3-1, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer match at the SJC Athletics Complex on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The conference contest stood at a scoreless stalemate until the 35th minute when Emmanuel sophomore Sarah Dullaghan (Belmont, Mass.) netted an unassisted tally. The Monks tied the game four minutes later when senior Darcy Wright (Salem, N.H.) scored her first goal of the season on a PK attempt.

The SJC lead lasted less than three minutes however, as senior Sophie Patterson (Scituate, Mass.) lifted the Saints to a 2-1 edge with a strike off a Kayla Francillon (Medford, Mass.) feed.

Emmanuel sophomore Annebel Balogh de Galantha (Grafton, Mass.) closed out the game scoring with her third goal of the season at the 71:46 mark.

TEAM STATS:

Emmanuel held the advantage in shots (18-5), shots on goal (12-2), and corner kicks (10-2) on the evening.

THE KEEPERS:

SJC senior Carly Downey (Yarmouth, Maine) made eight saves for the hosts while Emmanuel sophomore Gaby Baker (Grafton, Mass.) posted one stop for the visitors.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the loss Saint Joseph's falls to 7-13-0 all-time versus Emmanuel College. The Saints clipped the Monks by a 1-0 score in Boston last fall (9/28/22).

Saint Joseph's will host GNAC-rival Simmons University on Saturday at 4:30 PM.
