Monks Top Dean, Fall to JWU

STANDISH, ME. – Saint Joseph's College (5-12, 2-2 ) split a women's volleyball tri-match with Dean (5-8,1-1) and Johnson and Wales (7-9,1-1) on Saturday. The Monks opened with a 3-0 (25-14. 27-25, 25-20) Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win over the Dean Bulldogs  and capped the day with a hard fought 3-1 (18-25, 25-18, 12-25, 17-25) setback at the hands of JWU (7-9, 1-1).

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held the lead in kills (35-23), attack percentage (.180 / -.047), assists (35-21), service aces (8-4), digs (38-31), and total blocks (6-1) in the GNAC victory.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Senior Allison McMullen (Jacksonville, Fla.) delivered  three aces and five digs.
  • Junior Victoria Briones (El Paso, Texas) posted 10 kills and 8 digs.
  • Sophomore Larisa Comolli (Nashua, N.H.) notched six kills and season high of four blocks. 
  • Sophomore Jessica Christman (Virginia Beach, Va.) registered seven digs an three assists.
  • Senior Hanna Webster (Alvin, Texas) added two aces.
  • Freshman Riley Greenley (Newark, Delaware) dealt 16 assists with two aces.
  • Sophomore Kylie Giakoumis (Middletown, N.Y.) chipped in with five kills and two blocks.
  • Sophomore Tamya Johnson (Boston, MA) added 12 assists. 

LEADERS – Dean:

  • Maddy Seymour paced the hosts with seven kills and added four digs and one ace. 
  • Skylar Raskevitz notched 12 digs, two assists, and one ace. 
  • Anabella Driscoll put up 17 assists.

JWU def. SJC, 3-1

TEAM STATS:

JWU held the lead in kills (39-33), assists (37-32), aces (8-6), and total blocks (9-1.) while SJC led in digs 50-43.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Comolli recorded nine kills.
  • Sylvester posted eights kill and one block.
  • Kylie Giakoumis led the team with four aces.
  • Riley Greenely added 19 assists and one ace.
  • Briones tallied nine kills, one ace, and 13 digs.
  • Sophomore Sabrina Arcilla (Rivervale, N.J.) added nine digs
  • Johnson posted six assists.
  • Jessica Christman posted seven digs and three assists. 

LEADERS –JWU:

  • Peyton Oliver put up 14 kills with two aces, one bblock, and six digs. 
  • Finleigh Benkwitt notched six kills and three aces.
  • Bailey Koopman contributed with six blocks. 
  • Nevaeh Arnold added 22 assists.
  • Sierra Nausieda contributed 13 digs.
