BRUNSWICK, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (5-14) suffered a 6-5 loss at the hands of Bowdoin College (11-10) in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday afternoon. St. Joe's was originally scheduled to host the contest but due to rain, the game was played at Bowdoin's Pickard Field with the Monks playing as the home team.

Making his debut as a Monk, SJC junior starting pitcher Liam Jann (Philadelphia, Pa.) impressed by allowing a run on four hits with four strikeouts in three innings. Senior reliever Morgen Doughty (Smithfield, R.I.) suffered the loss after allowing a run on two hits and a walk in 0.2 innings.

Bowdoin featured seven hurlers in a planned approach with Hugh Devine earning the win after tossing two scoreless innings while allowing a hit and a free pass with one strikeout.

Junior third baseman Michael Wearne (Ellington, Conn.) went 2-for-4 with two RBI, freshman second baseman Vinny O'Leary (North Quincy, Mass.) was 2-for-2 with a pair of singles, and junior right fielder Alex Moore (Henniker, N.H.) doubled and notched two RBI in the setback.

For the Polar Bears, shortstop Liam Foley was 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and a pair of steals and Kevin Murray went 2-for-3 with a double and two walks.

Saint Joseph's will play at Husson University on Thursday at 4:00 PM.
