NASHUA, N.H. – Saint Joseph's College (7-20, 4-7 GNAC) snapped a seven-game losing streak with a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victories at Rivier University (7-19, 3-7 GNAC) on Saturday. Opened the two-game set with a 15-3 win and capped the sweep with a 6-3 triumph.

SAINT JOSEPH'S 15, RIVIER 3:

The Monks registered 18 hits and scored at least one run in seven different innings and took advantage of five Rivier fielding errors to earn the lopsided victory.

Leading 3-0 through four frames, St. Joe's pushed across three runs on four hits in the sixth when freshman Brady Cabral (Fall River, Mass.) and junior Michael Wearne (Ellington, Conn.) notched RBI singles and sophomore Jared Wilhelm (Tolland, Conn.) registered an RBI triple. The Monks put the game completely out of reach with four runs on three hits and two Rivier miscues in the top of the seventh. Alex Moore (Henniker, N.H.) posted an RBI single and Wilhelm knocked in a pair with a double to help the Royal Blue earn a 10-0 cushion.

After scoring two runs in the eighth, the Monks tacked on three runs in the ninth when junior Tyler Helbert (Manassas, Va.) delivered a pinch-hit, bases-clearing double down the left field line.

ON THE MOUND:

SJC sophomore starter Padraig Mac Seain (Brookline, N.H.) dominated in the victory and picked up the victory after allowing a run off four hits with eight strikeouts in seven innings. Senior reliever Morgen Doughty (Smithfield, R.I.) tossed two innings and allowed two runs on three hits with a strikeout.

Rivier starter Nate Bonacorsi suffered the loss after giving up six runs (five earned) on 11 hits with six K's in six innings.

OFF THE BAT:

• Wilhelm was 3-5 with two runs, two doubles, a triple, and three RBI
• Sophomore shortstop Luke Doughty (York, Maine) went 3-4 with two runs, a double, and a stolen base
• Wearne, Moore, and senior Luke Stephens (Glastonbury, Conn.) notched two hits apiece
• For Rivier, Luis Colon went 3-4 with a home run and three RBI

SAINT JOSEPH'S 6, RIVIER 3:

The Monks faced a 2-1 deficit before tying the game with two out in the top of the fourth when Wilhelm recorded an RBI single. In the top of the seventh, St. Joe's broke through with four runs on four hits and a Rivier error as Stephens and freshman Matt Elwell (Wakefield, Mass.) notched RBI singles and Cabral sent freshman pinch runner Jamison Nystrom (Saxtons Rivier, Vt.) home with an infield ground out.

ON THE MOUND:

SJC sophomore starter Ethan Smith (Hudson Oaks, Texas) did not factor into the decision after tossing five innings while allowing two runs on five hits with eight strikeouts. Second-year hurler Dylan Brander (Merrimack, N.H.) earned the victory after working four innings of two-hit, one-run (unearned) relief with four strikeouts.

Rivier starter Dean Adams gave up two runs on eight hits with six strikeouts in 5.2 innings and Travis McKeen suffered the loss after yielding three runs on two hits and two walks in 0.2 innings of relief.

OFF THE BAT:

• Senior left fielder Dawson Gundlah (York, Maine) was 3-5 with a pair of stolen bases
• Wilhelm went 2-4 with an RBI
• Moore added two singles and an RBI in five at-bats
• For the Raiders, Dylan Aliberti, Frank Gulezian, and Colton Colleran posted two hits apiece

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the sweep, Saint Joseph's improves to 35-2 in the history of the series with Rivier University.
