FARMINGTON, ME - St. Joe's (11-15) scored five runs in the sixth
inning to secure a 7-3 win at Farmington (11-8). Senior Kahler
Dowling (Augusta, ME) earned her sixth win of the season.
In the first inning, freshman Deb Drown (Gorham, ME) gave St.
Joe's a 1-0 lead, scoring after a single and stolen base. Junior
Leanne Morton (Gorham, ME) also singled in the inning. Farmington
had two hits and went up 2-1 in the bottom of the first.
Senior captain Helene Liaci (Clifton, NJ) hit a solo home run to
tie the game in the fourth and Farmington regained the lead in the
fifth, scoring one run on two hits.
Singles by Morton, senior Darcy Lee (Windham, ME), Dowling and
sophomore Amanda Roy (Winslow, ME) along with two walks put St.
Joe's up 7-3 in the sixth.
Game 2
Farmington sophomore Stephanie Moriarty (Sandwich, MA) struck
out 8 and allowed just one hit to give UMF a 9-0 win over St. Joe's
(11-16) in game 2.
After three and a half scoreless innings, Farmington (12-8) went
up 5-0 in the fourth on 4 hits and 2 errors. The lead was extended
with a run in the fifth and 3 runs in the sixth
.
Sophomore Amanda Roy (Winslow, ME) had the only hit of the game
for St. Joe's in the sixth inning.
St. Joseph's College plays at Babson College (MA) on Wednesday,
April 20, at 3 PM.
