Gorham, ME - Sophomore Caitlin Albert (Scarborough,
ME) scored the game winning goal at 55:05 giving Southern Maine a
slim 1-0 win over visiting St. Joe's. The Monks are 3-6 and the
Huskies improve to 6-6.
USM held a slight advantage in shots (12-9) in a
very evenly-played game.
Albert collected her own rebound off a deflected
shot and scored the unassisted goal from the top right of the
circle. First-year Karrie Sirois (Thomaston,
ME) had three saves in the loss and FY Allie Hill (Cape Elizabeth,
ME) had five for the Huskies.
The Monks were led by senior Kristine
Benere (Ayer, MA) with many solid drives. First-years
Jillian Kimball (Albany Township, ME) and
Amanda MacPheters (Dover-Foxcroft, ME) also turned
in great performances for St. Joe's.
St. Joe's plays at Lasell (MA) on Oct. 11 at 4 PM.
