STANDISH, ME - St. Joe's snapped a four-game losing streak with
a convincing two-game sweep of Colby College (10-19). The Monks
(21-15) took game one 3-1 and went on to capture a 7-2 game two
victory.
First-year Gabrielle Burrola (Gallup, NM)
struck out three and improved to 10-8 in game one. First-year
Kristi Albert (Farmingdale, ME) had a double and a
single for St. Joe's in her first intercollegiate victory.
In game two, junior Colleen Delahanty (Warren,
ME) (11-7) struck out two of four batters faced in one inning to
record the win for St. Joe's. Albert went 4 innings for the Monks
before first-year Alysn Ludwig (Waldoboro, ME)
took over and threw two. Ldwig was 3 for 4 with two runs and an RBI
while Albert, first-year Colby McKenney (Saco, ME)
and junior Jamie Morrison (Auburn, ME) were all 2
for 4.
Saint Joseph's hosts the Association of DIII Independents
Tournament this weekend, starting off at 11 a.m. versus Maine
Presque Isle on Saturday, April 29.
