Box Score 2 FORT MYERS, FL - The SJC softball team improved
their record to 3-5 with two lopsided victories on Friday. The
women defeated Rockford College (IL) 9-3 in the first game behind a
stellar effort from starting pitcher SO Christy
Wezowicz (Granville, MA). St. Joe's earned a 10-2
win over Dominican University (IL) in the team's second game of the
day. SO Jillian Kimball (Albany
TWP, ME) notched 3 RBI's and pitcher FY Kiera
Walsh (Benton, ME) got the win and did not
surrender an earned run in the game.
In the first game of the day, St. Joe's was ahead of Rockford
College 4-2 before scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the sixth to
gain a healthy seven-run cushion. Rockford added a run in the top
of the seventh inning to make the final score 9-3.
JR Kim Bechard (Lewiston, ME) was
2-3 with a run and an RBI and SO Kayla
Soucy (Colebrook, NH) was 1-3 with a triple and 2
runs scored in the win. Wezowicz gave up 6 hits and 4 walks and
struck out 3 in the complete game victory.
St. Joe's used a 10-run second inning to defeat Dominican
University (IL) 10-2 in five innings in the second game on
Thursday. FY Ellen Neff singled
home two runs and SO Jillian
Kimball (Albany TWP, ME) hit a double with the
bases loaded to collect 3 RBI's in the inning. Walsh went five
innings while striking out three, walking one and allowing four
hits.
JR Liz Jordan (Sandwich, MA) was
3-3 with a stolen base, FY Alyssa
Dunn (Standish, ME) was 2-3 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's
and a double and both FY Cat
DiSimone (Waterboro, ME) and
Kayla Soucy went 2-2 in the
game.
St. Joe's will play the final two games of their southern swing on
Saturday against RPI at 1:00 PM and Olivet College at 3:00 PM.
