PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Johnson & Wales University (9-0, 6-0 GNAC) defeated Saint Joseph's College (3-4, 3-1 GNAC), 3-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey matchup on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Monks held the reigning GNAC champions off the board until the 33rd minute when Izzy Ward slammed home a rebound and the Wildcats padded their lead with a Rayne Millett marker at the 43:01 mark. Ward capped the game scoring with her second tally of the afternoon in the 47th minute.

TEAM STATS:

Johnson & Wales, which has outscored conference opponents by a 35-0 combined score in six GNAC contests this fall, held considerable advantages in shots (30-3), shots on goal (16-1), and penalty corners (16-6) in the victory.

THE KEEPERS:

SJC junior Kassidy Collins (Pittston, Maine) made 13 saves in the setback while JWU netminder Sophia Brea posted one stop for the hosts.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the loss, Saint Joseph's falls to 6-5 all-time versus Johnson & Wales University. The Wildcats have defeated the Monks in four-consecutive meetings, a stretch that began during the 2021 campaign.
