WINTHROP-Mass.-Two members of the Saint Joseph's College women's volleyball team were recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) when All-Conference teams were announced Tuesday morning, as junior outside Victoria Briones (El Paso, Texas) made the Second Team while first-year Lea Carangelo (Wakefield, Massachusetts) was selected to the Third Team. In addition, sophomore Greta Mackintosh (Plymouth, Massachusetts) was named to the GNAC Women's Volleyball All-Tournament Team over the weekend.
Briones finished the season leading the team in kills with 218 and 262 digs. Briones also recorded 28 assists, 26 aces and 14 blocks. She recorded a season-high 17 digs, 16 kills, three assists and two blocks vs. New England College and recorded double-digit kills in 10 games and double-digit digs in 16 games, tallying five double-doubles This marked the second consecutive year that Briones collected All-Conference accolades.
Carangelo gained All-Conference Sportsmanship Team status. She played in 20 games for 35 total sets and recorded 52 assists and 33 digs. Caranagelo recorded a career-high eight assists along with three digs at Maine Maritime and tallied a career-high nine digs and matched her career-high eight assists vs. Maryville.
Mackintosh finished the season starting 17 of the 25 games she appeared in for the Monks . She played in a total of 75 sets this season and was third on the team in kills with 142. Mackintosh recorded 36 digs and 28 blocks. In the tournament, Mackintosh had a season-high five digs along with nine kills and three blocks in the GNAC quarterfinal at Regis (MA) and recorded a career-high five blocks along with seven kills in the GNAC semifinal at JWU.
The Monks finished the 2024 season 15-17 and 10-5 in the GNAC.
