Castine, ME - The young SJC women's basketball
squad was unable to overcome a 17-point halftime deficit as Maine
Maritime cruised to a 71-46 win on Saturday.
The Mariners, fresh off a 51-49 win over #1
nationally ranked Bowdoin College, shot 53% from the field in the
first half to take a 39-22 lead into the break. Holding a 41-25
advantage on the glass, Maritime used 13 offensive rebounds to add
to their lead.
The Monks were led by JR Megan
Farrell (Abington, MA) with 16 points and SO Megan
Willette (Waterville, ME) with 10. FY Carolyn
Freeman (Scarborough, ME) chipped in with 8 points.
Senior Alyssa Burns scored a game-high 21 points
and SR Michelle Gott had 13 for the Mariners.
St. Joe's takes on Lyndon State on Wednesday,
