STANDISH, ME - University of New England (3-6) won three
straight sets after losing the first of the game to defeat Saint
Joseph's (3-11) by a 3-1 score (25-19, 8-25, 21-25, 15-25) on
Thursday evening. Katie
Boccanelli '12 (Cottonwood, AL) recorded 10 digs
and four blocks and Samantha
Varrell '12 (Portsmouth, NH) blasted six service
aces and dished out 20 assists in the losing effort.
Also chipping in for St. Joe's were senior Amanda
Ruel (Biddeford, ME), who had seven digs, and
freshman Kiersten Carbone
(North Reading, MA) with four aces.
For the Nor'easters, Josie Raphaelito '09 (Pine Hill, NM) had 34
helpers while Alex Toregas '09 (Chevy Chase, MD) recorded 14 kills
in the victory.
Saint Joseph's will host a GNAC tri-match this Saturday and will
play Rivier College at 10:00 AM followed by Pine Manor College at
2:00 PM. The Nor'easters will host Roger Williams
University on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
