STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (12-6, 5-0 GNAC) remained undefeated in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with a 58-48 victory over Anna Maria College (6-13, 2-3 GNAC) in women's basketball action at the Harold Alfond Center on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Monks led by as many as 15 points early in the third quarter, but the visiting AMCATS outscored the Royal Blue by a 23-14 margin in the penultimate period and managed to secure their first lead (44-43) since the opening minutes when senior guard Sierra Johnson (Brockton, Mass.) hit a jumper 22 seconds into the fourth frame.

The lead swapped hands three times in the following five minutes, but a traditional three-point play from senior guard Julia Quinn (Fryeburg, Maine) with 4:11 left put the Monks ahead to stay and ignited a 13-2 run that spanned the remainder of the contest.

STATS OF THE GAME:

Saint Joseph's held a 55-36 lead in rebounds with 18 caroms on the offensive end…The Monks went 10-for-15 from the free throw line while the AMCATS made just three of 10 attempts from the charity stripe…Neither team fared well from three-point range, as St. Joe's shot 12.9% (4-31) and Anna Maria posted a 14.3% (3-21) effort from beyond the arc.

• Junior guard Cassandra Stapelfeld (Brookline, N.H.) led all players with 16 points and added five rebounds and three assists in the triumph
• Quinn tallied 11 points, five boards, and five assists
• Sophomore guard Kaleigh Walsh (Windham, N.H.) contributed nine points and 10 rebounds
• Junior forward Jordan Jabar (Waterville, Maine) added eight points, eight caroms, and two assists
• Sophomore guard Alyson Fillion (Bedford, N.H.) chipped in with eight points and five rebounds
• Freshman guard Bri Jordan (Gray, Maine) came off the bench to pull down seven boards
