STANDISH, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy (1-0) defeated Saint Joseph's College (0-1), 3-0 (25-20, 25-10, 25-20), in a Coastal Maine Classic Tournament match on Mike McDevitt Court at the Harold Alfond Center on Friday evening. The match was the season-opener for both programs.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

• Junior Maggie Sylvester (Barrington, N.H.) posted seven kills, seven digs, and three block assists
• Junior Hanna Webster (Alvin, Texas) added five kills on nine attempts for a .444 attack percentage
• Freshman Tamya Johnson (Boston, Mass.) delivered seven assists
• Sophomore Victoria Briones (El Paso, Texas) notched three kills, three aces, and 10 digs
• Freshman Larisa Comolli (Nashua, N.H.) delivered two kills and four block assists

LEADERS – MAINE MARITIME:

• Sydney Williams recorded 12 kills on 35 attempts with eight digs
• Chloe Weeks added seven kills
• Hunnie Zuber-Stephens notched five kills and 17 digs
• Katie Albritton registered two kills, 19 assists, three aces, and four digs
• Makenna Middleton and Sydney Rich chipped in with 12 and 10 digs, respectively

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the result Saint Joseph's falls to 12-11 all-time versus Maine Maritime Academy and has now suffered five consecutive defeats at the hands of the Mariners.
