STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (16-7, 12-0 GNAC) cruised past Mitchell College (4-16, 2-10 GNAC), 72-54, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's basketball action on Mike McDevitt Court at the Harold Alfond Center on Saturday afternoon.

MILESTONE MET:

With a layup at the 8:33 mark of the second quarter senior guard Angelica Hurley (Groveland, Mass.) became the latest member of the Monks' 1000-Point Club and first since former teammate Cassandra Stapelfeld '22 joined the exclusive list on January 25th, 2020.

Hurley, who entered today's contest 10 points shy of the milestone, capped the day with a game-high 23 points in just under 26 minutes on the court and is the 27th player in the 47-year history of SJC women's basketball to net 1,000. Sophomore Madison Lebel (Hermon, Maine) was credited with the assist on the historic field goal.

SENIOR MOMENT:

Prior to the start of the contest the Monks held a brief ceremony to honor the program's five seniors: Hurley, Hailey Anderson (Beverly, Mass.), Nina Howe (York, Maine), Hannah Talon (Windham, Maine), and manager Autumn Dionne (Beverly, Mass.). The Monks' lead slipped to seven points (30-23) five minutes later, but the hosts completed the first half with a 15-4 outbreak and headed into intermission with a 45-27 advantage.

Saint Joseph's held a game-high 29-point lead after Anderson drilled a three-pointer with 9:15 left in the fourth frame.

STATS OF THE GAME:

The Monks shot 43.1% (28-65) from the field and 37.5% (9-24) from three-point range while the Mariners made 32.7% (18-55) of their bids from the floor, including an 18.8% (3-16) from beyond the arc, in the losing effort.
