STANDISH, Maine – Senior forward O'Kyle Corridon (Selden, N.Y.) netted a pair of goals to help lift Johnson & Wales University (10-4-1, 6-1-0 GNAC) defeat Saint Joseph's College (4-13-0, 2-5-0 GNAC), 2-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's soccer contest at Westerlea Way Field on Friday afternoon.

The visiting Wildcats held a commanding 21-2 advantage in shots but failed to score until the 62nd minute when Corridon potted a beautiful header to lift Johnson & Wales to a 1-0 lead. Taking a throw-in from the left, senior Kyle Metz (St. James, N.Y.) lofted a well-placed ball to the left post to Corridon, who left his feet and flicked a header into the top left corner of the net, scoring a goal that went in the books as the game-clincher.

Corridon took advantage of a defensive lapse by the Monks just over 14 minutes later when he scored his 11th goal of the year and effectively put the game out of reach. Johnson & Wales forced a turnover at midfield and struck in transition, as Corridon gathered a loose ball inside the box to the right and lofted an odd-angle shot past SJC keeper Scott Benner (Post Falls, Idaho), who left his line to challenge and was caught out of position.

In goal, Benner made 10 saves – including several acrobatic bids – for the Monks while his counterpart, JWU senior Ryan Dzierzawski (Oakland, Mich.), was untested in the Wildcats' shutout performance.

With the loss, Saint Joseph's falls to 7-5 in the history of the series with Johnson & Wales and has now suffered three consecutive setbacks at the hands of the Wildcats.

Saint Joseph's has two regular season matches remaining: a 7:00 PM contest at Mount Ida College on Wednesday and a home game versus Emmanuel College at 12:00 PM next Saturday.

Johnson & Wales, winners of three straight games – all GNAC matches – and the current conference leader, will host Albertus Magnus College in a GNAC tilt at 3:00 PM on Wednesday.
