PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Johnson & Wales University (6-1-2, 3-0-1 GNAC) edged Saint Joseph's College (4-3-1, 3-1-0 GNAC), 1-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Monks see their GNAC regular-season undefeated streak of 57 (53-0-4) games come to an end. St. Joe's entered today's contest having not suffered a GNAC regular-season setback in nearly seven years, as the Monks' last loss at the hands of a conference foe was a 2-0 decision at Lasell University on October 21st, 2015.

The Wildcats produced the only offense of the afternoon in the 28th minute when Brian Miller scored off a corner kick. Alexander Pane was credited with an assist on the play.

SJC senior goalie Mike Sheridan (Folsom, Pa.) made four saves in the loss while JWU keeper Jacob Friedman posted four stops in the shutout performance.

Saint Joseph's will host Elms College on Wednesday in a conference contest slated to start at 7:30 PM.
